ABOUT US

Doug and Michaelanne Johnson purchased Sunrise Kennels in1977 and thirteen years later, in 1990, they purchased Woodmen Kennels, which is located right next door to Sunrise. They have raised 5 children in the business and all are actively involved today! Their children, Courtneyanne, Candaceanne, Carrieanne, Corrissaanne, and Colton are a strong part of the business today, working as pet groomers, office, and dog trainers and handlers.

The part that we enjoy today is having the customer’s children now bringing in their pets for us to care for. It is now the second generation we are caring for.  

The Johnson’s have received many awards throughout their careers, but none as prestigious as the 2006 AKC Breeder of the Year and the 2006 Hearding Dog of the Year award with their son Colton and Old English Sheepdog “Smokin.”
